I wanted to make some shoes for myself to match my husband’s and to use up the rest of the dye. Please see the previous post for the instructions and list of supplies. Tulip dye says it is best within 24 hours. My shoes were delivered a day late from Amazon so my dye had been mixed for 48 hours. There were two differences in the way I made my shoes compared to my husband’s. First, instead of the Tulip soda ash, I used washing soda. Washing soda takes waaaay more than soda ash. Instead of the little packet, I used 4 cups in 1 tub. Luckily both of my shoes fit in one tub. I also put a shirt in there to soak after my shoes were done so I could get more use out of that washing soda. Difference number two is that I ran out of purple.
